About Our PHP Services

Woburn DBT-informed Partial Hospitalization Programs specializing in both co-occurring and mental health programs

For adults, Bournewood’s DBT-informed PHPs at Woburn provide a treatment approach which follows the principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Participants engage in DBT skills groups to learn distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Regular mindfulness practice is built into the program schedule. PHPs follow a daily structured routine, Monday through Friday, from generally 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our PHPs are short-term stay and are tailored to each patient’s needs.

About Our IOP Services

Bournewood Health Systems is excited to introduce its Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at our Woburn Caulfield Center, designed to provide comprehensive support for adults seeking to enhance their mental well-being. Our IOP utilizes a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) curriculum, emphasizing practical skill implementation in real-world settings. The program is facilitated by two master ‘s-level clinicians and incorporates expressive arts components to promote holistic healing.

Who Is A Good Candidate for our Intensive Outpatient Program?

This program is designed for individuals 18 years and older who are experiencing low to moderate mental health symptoms and are highly motivated to learn how to better navigate these symptoms in the community, including relationships, work, and everyday stressors.

Who Is NOT A Candidate for our IOP Program?

For individuals requiring a higher level of care, the following criteria would necessitate admission to our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) before transitioning to IOP:

• Active suicidal ideation (SI)
• Active substance use with a focus on improvement
• Need for medication management
• Low motivation for treatment
• Stepping down from Inpatient Psychiatric Level of Care (IPLOC) or Detox
• Severe symptom presentation

The clinical team will determine readiness for step-down to IOP on a case-by-case basis.
