Description: Responsible for overall Hospital functioning on all shifts beyond the usual business hours. Collaborates with Admissions to ensure patient placement for care. BWH Director of Outpatient Services

Bournewood Health Systems is seeking an independently licensed clinician with management experience who will be responsible for managing all outpatient program operations at main location and satellite sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct day-to-day operations of seven partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) at the main hospital location in Brookline and at satellite locations in Woburn, Lowell, and Dedham.
  • Manage all current and future outpatient program staff with responsibilities that include recruitment, selection, retention, training, clinical and administrative supervision, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action.
  • Coordinate clinical care with an interdisciplinary team of professionals including licensed mental health counselors (LMHCs), clinical social workers (LCSWs/LICSWs), physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, and psychologists.
  • Supervise graduate student interns and maintain relationships with graduate schools of social work and mental health counseling.
  • Collaborate with different department personnel and executives including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Social Work, and others.
  • Ensure all programs comply with agency policies and procedures, standards set by the agency’s accrediting and regulatory bodies, and requirements of third-party payers.
  • Monitor and reinforce appropriate billing and fee collection policies and procedures, and communicate regularly with the Billing Department.
  • Participate in the development of goal-oriented treatment plans in accordance with standards set by Bournewood Health Systems, the Department of Mental Health, Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and others.
  • Oversee any and all contracts awarded to the various programs, as well as develop, implement, and monitor compliance with contract requirements and budget.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various external agency referral sources including Emergency Service Programs (ESPs), hospitals and clinics, detoxification programs, and schools.
  • Oversee managed care contracts to ensure programs continue to meet all requirements.
  • Attend and participate in internal and external meetings and committees, as requested.
  • Develop and lead regular departmental meetings.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction surveys and identify areas for improvement.

Required Experience:

  • Applicant must have a graduate degree in a human-services related field (e.g., MSW, MA, MS, EdD, PhD, PsyD) from an accredited college or university.
  • Applicant must have independent clinical licensure (e.g., LICSW, LMHC, LP).
  • Applicant must have a history of clinical work, people management, and leadership.
  • Applicant must have a history of providing clinical supervision to unlicensed or junior-licensed clinicians.
  • Applicant must have a history of working with patients who experience symptoms of mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

BWH Lead Clinician ~ Partial Hospital Program ~ Lowell

Bournewood Health Systems is seeking a Partial Hospital Program Coordinator to provide mental health and substance abuse treatment services to adolescent and adults in a partial hospital program setting in our Lowell facility. Under the supervision of the Ambulatory Service Manager, the Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all operational and clinical activities of the Mental Health Partial Hospital program. The program coordinator will oversee two partial hospital programs and two intensive outpatient programs.

Responsible for developing and evaluating the group program, evaluating staff, marketing and facilitating communication with external referral sources, ensuring the programs meet the requirements of accrediting and or regulatory agencies as well as contracted insurers for clients admitted to the department, assessing the effectiveness of treatment through quality monitoring care delivered. Supervises or delegates supervision to experienced clinicians for all clinical and non-clinical staff for both adult and adolescent programs. Ensures the assignment of case managers for all clients and that documentation of care meet standards established within each program.
