What Is Kaleidoscope?

Kaleidoscope is Bournewood Health Systems’ response to a lack of LGBTQ+ therapists in Boston. This partial hospitalization program (PHP) is specifically for people who belong to the LGBTQIA+ and gender-expansive communities. Our affirming therapy center is a true safe space for people to come and feel accepted while they receive mental health services. In a community that experiences mental illness at a higher rate than the general population, we are proud to be an inclusive campus you can rely on.

Who We Help

Our gay-affirming therapy services in Boston are for all people who identify as LGBTQ+, and especially those who:

Are navigating struggles with mental illness and addiction
Are gender non-binary, gender nonconforming, or gender queer
Have been struggling with their mental health due to recent changes in LGBTQ+ laws

Our Approach to LGBTQ+ Therapy

Our PHP program runs on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. During this time, participants follow a structured routine and receive care from affirming and culturally competent professionals. We take a personalized approach to your care so we can best serve you, combining a range of modalities, including CBT, DBT, and psychoeducation.

No matter if you come to us for a short-term stay at our Brookline location, you will have the option to participate in:

Individual therapy: Whether you are dealing exclusively with mental illness or you have a dual diagnosis of a substance use disorder, our experienced therapists will help you address it.
Family therapy: If you and your loved ones are willing, we also offer family therapy to assist in the healing process.
Support groups: During your time here, you will have the chance to connect with other people in similar situations and relate to them through shared experiences and group therapy.
